Caring for an inseminated hucow requires a dramatic increase in the level of care required. That is why we offer to care for your impregnated hucows in our Inseminated Hucow Facility.
Our facility can hold upwards of 200 pregnant hucows, but we currently have approximately 180 in our residences today.
Pregnant hucows require a lot of nutrition, which is why we have our hucows attached to feeders for 18 out of 24 hours a day. Sometimes inseminated hucows do not want to consume all of the feed necessary to sustain the pregnancy, therefore we recommend documenting the feed that is consumed and consider force feeding if necessary.
Pregnant hucows also urinate all day, which can be a problem if they are housed in small enclosures. That is why we install catheters in the hucows at our facilities. You may be able to catheterize your hucows at your farm, contact us to receive the training needed.
While inseminated hucows are not bred twice a day as they are used to, they should be penetrated at least once per day to keep the hucow accustomed to the routine. There has even been research that suggests frequent ejaculation into already inseminated hucows helps to stimulate the hucow, making the birthing process more enjoyable.
